The exhibition celebrates the centenary of the inauguration, in 1924, of the first motorway section in Italy.
It traces the life of the motorway through four sections. It opens with the network; it continues with the journey; then the landscape, portrayed spectacularly in Iwan Baan’s photographs.
The last section, suspended between the surreal images of Emiliano Ponzi and the ongoing research of concrete innovation at Renzo Piano’s studio (RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop), eventually casts a first glimpse of how technology, eco-consciousness, and architectural and artistic imagination can influence the present and future of mobility that is in many ways yet to be defined.
